I hope this finds you well and positively inspired! We are excited to announce some new happenings! In favor of the artists helping us launch this initiative, we have decided to lower the membership entry fee to $1/day with a 90 day commitment! We will still be paying 80% commission to the artist each month also! We are SO excited to offer this this because it is our mission to support our artists as much as possible in this venture!
The following are some important updates and FAQs regarding art submissions for the HUGE Grand Opening charity event and teaching classes:
- For Grand Opening Event, photos of art submissions must be sent to this email for pre-approval before Aug 20. If you only have one piece to start with, we can add the other pieces any time after contract signing, but we are putting a cap on the number of pieces each artist can enter for now until we see how much response we get and how much room we need for each artist.
- Included in the $90 membership, artists have the option to submit up to 20 small items (jewelry size pieces), up to 10 medium pieces of art, or up to 5 large pieces (sculpture or large canvas pieces). These can be switched out after the first 30 days with studio approval.
- Art that is approved must be turned into the studio before Sept 1 in order to be included in the Grand Opening event. At the time of art drop off, payment of the $90 is due and the signing of 90 day commitment contract is also due. Please note, this deadline is ONLY for the Grand Opening event to have time to properly curate all the pieces in time for the big day! Otherwise, artists are welcome to start the contract at a later date after the grand opening at the, end of October.
- Regarding teaching classes- We are excited to have a handful of extremely talented and experienced teachers on board for the following mediums: Pen and Ink, comic book art, pencil sketching, watercolor, acrylic, sculpture, and chalk painted furniture, however we are open to consider and add any type of class for any medium! We are still taking applications for teaching positions for ‘single session’ classes and also ‘weekly series’ classes. We will be paying the teachers a percentage of the class attendance profit or an hourly rate depending on interest and attendance. For anyone interested in teaching, please make an appointment with us to discuss what times you are available to teach, and what age group you’d prefer (we are doing adult classes and also just got approval from Boardman Schools superintendent to do an after-school enrichment program for kids also!!) We want to start marketing and promoting classes ASAP to start getting registrations! VOLUNTEER TEACHERS ARE WELCOME!!
- In addition to the 90 day membership, we are requesting that EVERY MEMBER volunteer at least one day in the three month period to work at the studio. This will help keep cost down for everyone. A calendar will be posted in the studio and you can pick your day!
- As of now the times available to teach are weekdays 11-5 and Saturdays 11-5. We will also be adding one or two evenings classes and will be working on the schedule soon to figure out which days.
- We are currently looking for a used kiln and pottery wheel. In the meantime, we may stick to the basics until we get up and running. We would love any good leads on these!
